CONSISTENCY

Recently, I was not feeling quite as in touch with myself. I was finding myself to have less motivation, feeling more irritable, and sleeping worse. Looking at my day to day routines I noticed I had fallen off some of my regular habits. Once I realized this, I started back on the path of consistency and within days I noticed a significant improvement in my overall well being.

Consistency is a term you have heard, and for the sake of this blog, I will focus on psychological consistency. To have growth and success in our lives, we must practice consistency.  It is important to be dedicated and focused on our goals. The phrase “consistency is key” is not an exaggeration. It is truly one of the most important factors when determining long term success.

Consistency is about doing something regularly, regardless of external factors or challenges. When we are consistent with our actions, our results will grow. It’s the act of showing up and putting in the effort steadily over time, even when results are not immediate. I notice myself finding this to be true through the simple act of stretching for example. I start off small with a few stretches for only a few minutes in the beginning. Then as I become accustomed to including stretching into my daily schedule, it becomes routine. I also notice that my flexibility is improving, and my aches and pains are less. These results continue to encourage me to stay on course. This is true when you begin strength training. You may start off by lifting light weights, then the following month after focusing on weight training weekly, you will see that you are lifting heavier weights.

It is important for me to stick to my daily non-negotiables to stay on track with my health goals. Here are some of my non-negotiables.

*drinking water upon rising with my phytase and seed pro/pre biotics

*meditation 5-10 minutes

*yoga 10-30 minutes

*spending time in nature

* protein with every meal

*cardio or lifting 30 minutes daily

*follow a paleo nutrition plan

What are your daily non-negotiables?
